Ramadhan Bazaar 2008 (Part 2)
Sep 25th, 2008 by Alvin Chong
As I have promised, this is part 2 of the Ramadhan Bazaar 2008 series. This time, it’s more about pictures of food. Let the picture do all the talking.

This is the usual Malay fast food. Of course, they sell like hot cake at the bazaar despite their price. I have yet to identify any dish in that picture that isn’t spicy.

Not to also forget the infamous Sarawakian Kek Lapis. Always as colourful as ever.

Even something as normal as the popiah is available for sale.

I don’t exactly know what this is. It’s some rice with prawns. Taste is one thing, but the temptation is definitely there.

Tell me, how can one not get tempted by the sight of this chicken Nasi Briyani?!?!

Raya delicacies and pastries were also on sale already. Hmmm…

Keropok Lekor was also on sale! Speaking of which, I haven’t been eating these since I returned from KL.

This is the lekor which has not been keropotized. What the crap am I talking about? hahaha…

Raw stingray being pan grilled on banana leaves. It isn’t enticing now, but it will be when you add in the belachan. Yummsss…!!!

Not to forget, some pulut panggang to buka puasa with.

Fancy some pizza from Pizza Hut local style?

Apam balik, anyone?

Colourful rice dishes. I don’t even know each individual name of these rice dishes.

I tell you, I was very very tempted to buy some of these sinfully roasted succulent, juicy chicken.

I think these are roasted stingrays if I am not mistaken.

Panggang fish anyone?

Some more chicken for you chicken lovers out there.

Sweet tapai, anybody?

This is Gula Apong… God knows what this is. I have never tasted this one.

This guy was so happy he requested me to photo him. Look at that priceless expression on his face. If You Smell….. la la la la lau… what the Rock… is cutting TM LOL.

I assume this is the Power Soup dish because I took this from the stall selling it. Of course, there isn’t any soup until you actually purchase it.

Last but not least, the Nasi Lemak ‘Ori’TM. I even bought some to review. Stay tune for more. Meanwhile, enjoy this year’s Ramadhan Bazaar food collection. ![]()

Gula apong is nipah palm sugar. Never seen it sold like that. Usually in plastic bags…and u eat it as a dip e.g. when eating boiled tapioca. Sarawak’s version of gula melaka but it is not hard - black/dark brown and sticky!
Jeff: I didn’t exactly get the meaning of your phrase but yea, these stalls are common in almost every city.
Nicole: So what food tempts you?
Clare: Thank you, thank you. hehehehehe…
suituapui: Yea, I am stocking up so much of this Power Soup! bwahahahahaha… I need those very very much.
Hmmm, maybe I should try those gula apong…
