Back to Kuching Again!
Oct 15th, 2007 by Alvin Chong
Finally, after a long time, I’m back to Kuching again. Flight was 1825hrs and Clare’s was 1815hrs on the 13th October 2007 but the god damn taxis just wouldn’t take me to KL Sentral. Yes, I am quite pissed at taxis already, make that very pissed, but that would be another day. So yea, I wanted to depart for the LCCT at 1500hrs and I started calling since 1315hrs and I couldn’t get a damn taxi, not even until 1430hrs! I finally decided to just bloody call a cab that took me directly to the airport.

Not that I am complaining since Clare and I had quite an amount of luggage but with the luxury, it set me back at RM75. Oh, it’s RM10 more expensive because we needed to shoot off to some places to pick up stuffs. The skies started getting darker, and after all the stops and pickups, we headed for the LCCT at about 1515hrs. It started pouring cats and dogs as we were heading towards the Damansara exit at the NKVE. The pour was so heavy that the car could barely do 60km/h. The heavy rain was already a pain, and then you have idiot drivers driving like as if the whole road belongs to them. A “P” driver even had the courtesy to sway all the way from the middle lane to the left most lane for a stop without care for the traffic behind her.
Anyway, we reached at about 1640hrs and proceeded to check in. Oh, the check in process wasn’t a really pleasant one. I had a certain stuff not permitted for check in and I had to just dump it with them. Already I was very pissed and when I was in the queue to check in my baggages, those god damned people just couldn’t check in any faster. Taking a freaking 10 minutes per person, when it would have just taken 3 minutes at most. We were done checking in at about 1735hrs and we entered the boarding area at about 1750hrs.

Then, we have people stopping us for bringing too many hand carries on board. So Clare had to stuff some of her things into her bag and she went through. Getting very agitated, this was what proceeded:
Alvin: So how? What do you want me to do now? Throw all these away?
Staff: Well, you can check them in. I guarantee you, they will not let you bring these on board. Too many!
Alvin: I have already checked in, and I haven’t the time to check in these. They can’t be checked in. They’ll get lost in the process.
Staff: Ey, how can these stuff get lost?
Alvin: It does! 8/10 times I check these in, they get lost/stolen! GUARANTEED!!!
(Silence for 3 seconds…)
Staff: OK la, proceed.
So I did, and I did not even say thank you. I know, I wasn’t at all courteous and I am not proud of it. I was just getting really agitated already.

80 knots… V1… Rotate… Positive rate… Gear up… and off we go…
What do you know? The flight was not even full that day. Thank you so much for making it so much trouble for me to get through. No delays, which was ideal, except that I wasn’t so use to it and I was one of the last to board. It was my first time getting a last call for Air Asia flights. Amazing I must say, and I hope it sticks that way.
The flight departed and arrived on time and I smell the scent of the small city of Kuching once again. Kolo mee and Laksa sprang up on my mind straight away. The familiarity of my own hometown is a very welcoming scene.

hey how long will u be in kch?
ivan: I will probably be here until next week. When are you coming back?
Next time u need a cab in KL or thereabout, call my friend CASH (Indian guy) at 0129312525. He’s very friendly, helpful and dependable. When I book his cab for 6.30, he’ll be waiting and hanging around outside the hotel at 5.30. Tell him that u got his phone contact from this CIKGU from Sibu. (Heard he worked in a bank before but didn’t like the restrictive 9-5 job, and people bossing over him)
suituapui: Thanks for the advise and info. I will bear this in mind and will call for him if there is a need to. Anyway, welcome and have a nice stay.
im only going back end of the year.
ivan: I am back to KL already.
