The Rubik’s Cube

On The Side Note:1) I met up with Nicole today and this was one of the conversations that went on between us.
Alvin:
So, what do you intend to do in 1 year time?
Nicole:![]()
Alvin: What is your unique hits for your blog per day?
Nicole:![]()
Alvin: How much does Nuffnang pays you to advertise on your site?

Alvin: Seriously, what is it you intend to do in a year time?

I gave up after that. What a conversation.
The Rubik’s cube was initially known as the Magic Cube. It is now named after its creator, Erno Rubik. It’s a piece of amazing puzzle which I have never been able to solve since young. The most I did was solve a face, and that was also without having the proper colour in place for the other faces’ edge.
I have learnt how to solve the cube in 3 minutes or less. You basically take and solve each face, layer by layer. I’ll first attempt to solve the white layer. To do that, I’ll first have to make a white cross on the white face.
The picture above is a typically scrambled cube. Notice the center labels of each face never changes no matter how you rotate the cube.
I am now going to make the white cross on the white label face.
Notice the orange and green faces have the right color edges aligning to the white cross edges. This will be the same case for the other 2 sides facing away from the photo.
Next, I’ll attempt to solve the white face completely and notice that the top edges near to the white face are all properly aligned with the proper color.
Again, please notice that the center labels of each face never changes no matter how the cube is rotated.
I will then attempt to solve the second layer of the cube, leaving only the last layer as well as the yellow top to be solved, as you will see later.
There you go, the second layer solved. I am now going to turn the cube 180 degree upside down to solve the yellow face. Again, I’ll make a cross without messing up the already solved layers.
Walla, there you go. Nevermind the 2 yellow edges as I am going to solve them all in the next step.
There you go, I solved the yellow without touching the solved layers. Now notice the green labels? What I am going to do is to solve each face to ensure that the sides are of the same color, leaving only the middle top labels to be solved.
Solved. Now the sides all have the same colored labels. Notice that one face (in this case the orange) will be completely solved. I will now face the orange face away from me and attempt to solve the remaining 3 middle top labels.
There you go, the Rubik’s cube completely solved in 3 minutes or less. Professionals can do it in less than 30 seconds with lots of practice. Pardon me as I am not able to elaborate each steps in detail as it would have took this post to a very long extend. You would have to search for the solution from the internet. Cheers people!

Now that’s something I could never solve! The most I could get is 2 complete sides. You got to teach me, man.
Samuel: Hey there man, thanks for dropping by. Don’t worry about it. When you get the gist of it, the cube is a piece of cake.
[…] explained it more detailed than I do in one of his posts. Oh, and he can do it faster than me, under 3 minutes. If I practise a lot - in the toilet while […]
Aiyo…….. not helping enough Alvin… >.
Liza: Unfortunately, to teach you how to rotate at each step, I’d have to make a video.
please tell me how to make rubiks cube in step by step
