Friendster Cafe Blogger Meet
Jul 15th, 2007 by Alvin Chong
So, I heard about the meet and since I was nearby, I decided to drop by. I was thinking, a dSLR with 1GB empty CF card, with nothing better to do. I might as well drop by to mingle with some bloggers as well as snapping a few hot chics and the whole gathering. I was late however, reaching there only by 10pm. Anyway, it all went pretty well and I saw a few familiar faces there. Alas, being there a little late made time short for photography.
I was introduced to this girl, Avril Chan, by Rames and group. A very friendly girl who could talk to me like she hadn’t just known me a couple of minutes ago.
I felt so out at the gathering, you know, me and my infamous wear. Quite a number were wearing formal clothes. Had I known, I would have worn something better. ARRGGHH…
The whole thing went on and this was one of the interesting parts. David Lai? Was that his name? Anyway, he was there to perform magic as part of the gathering. Now, this isn’t any ordinary magic you see. Rather, this is the sort of David Blaine magic.
Among some of the illusions he performed were reading words from peoples mind, as well as smashing 3 paper bags, none of which contained the broken wine glass bottle, except the one he left untouched. Yes, it’s a trick but don’t ask me how he did it, because I seriously don’t know how.
You there, can you choose one of these bags which you think does not contain the bottle?
Owner of Advertlets, Josh Lim, was asked to volunteer in smashing one of the paper bags. Man, you should see the worried face of his when he was about to smash the bag chosen by another volunteer from the crowd. I’d be worried too, if I were him. It’s my hand, for god’s sake!!!
PHEW!!! You should have seen the sight of relieve on Josh’s face after he smashed an empty bag. With two bags left, David got another guy to choose an empty bag.
Who is that lucky guy to determine whether or not David gets a serious injury on his hand? It’s none other than Rames. He would be the guy on the left in the top picture. The guy on the right would be SmashPop. I’m sorry but I do not know the name of the guy in the middle, so pardon me for my ignorance. (I just got his name, the guy in the middle is Nick)
I was then introduced to Cedric by Kenny. I am sorry Kenny, I couldn’t snap any pictures with you. Cedric has a controversial issue, which I will not be touching on, but rest assured, cedricang.com is no longer in his control.
It was then that I was introduced to this hot model, Leng Yein.
What can I say? I look so damn fat standing side by side models. Leng Yein is one friendly lass who opened a mamak stall at Plaza Prima Setapak. When she told me that, I was surprised. Her opening a mamak just doesn’t register properly in my brain. She had her own reasons though, so all the best to her. I’ll drop by sometime to taste out the food.
Three models and two hunks
Continuing into the night, it was time to take a group photo. Again, I was out of the group picture wanting to take photos of the group. My 18mm lens kit didn’t do the trick. The angle was too wide for it. After tonight, I have decided, I need an external flash as well as a few lens for different applications.
No, not everyone is in the picture
Man, models seriously know how to pose for pictures and I was standing there like an idiot. I was virtually like an elephant standing in between these models.
Now, somebody tell me they are not envious of me! ![]()
