The Way I Saw The World Yesterday
Feb 4th, 2007 by Alvin Chong
Hmm, as I know it, I am not so much of a picture blogger, but today, I’ll add a little bit of photo spice to it. This post is again a post of no genre and is in chronological order according to what I saw and experienced yesterday. Besides, I have stumbled upon too many blog postings of people camwhoring and then posting photos where they do not belong. So much so, the only reason I read on was to look at the photos and see if there were any interesting items I can spot. At least if the photos were there to compliment the texts, they would have made a very nice post, but no, it’s just there because the author just wanted to show them.
So I thought, it was about high time I got myself geared with photos to compliment my post as well, so this is it. The photos are not so good though, since I am no professional photographer so don’t expect fancy angles and lightings. Some of the photographs are even blur due to night shots. It’s sucha shame but what the heck. LOL.
Anyway, back to today, I woke up unfortunately to work on a Saturday. Yes, I still have to work half a day on a Saturday, officially that is, but off the record, I still work one full day.
So yes, woke up, got ready and rushed down to the kopitiam to grab myself a quick breakfast.
See, a poor guy like me does not indulge in luxurious breakfasts, so for me, it’s only a taosa pau and a teh peng. What else? Because I can’t afford ba… I seldom take breakfast, if you must know. Foreigners often have this impression that Malaysians love their breakfast but it doesn’t work that way for me. The reason I am taking breakfasts nowadays though is because I fear my gastric will strike again. Yes, I am big in size but I still get gastric OK, I am still human after all. Anyway, the breakfast only lasted a meagre 10 minutes and I was off to the office after that.
Nothing distant though, it’s actually just 5 minutes walk from my condo, or less. Looking at the photo above, I just noticed, advertisers have indulged in a new way to advertise their stuffs. The sign posts and the lamp post are being utilized fully for advertising. BRAVO!!!
Basically, the whole morning was work, work, work and work. Pretty hectic for a Saturday morning, I have to say and I won’t bore you with my work details. I have sworn before that I wouldn’t write a typical entry choreographing my day to day life but again, it isn’t the intention of this post to do that. This post was meant to illustrate my thinkings of the day as I went through it.
Come lunch time, I just felt very “pictorial” so I brought my camera along for lunch. I came across this bush, well not exactly bush, where a dog has been hiding for quite sometime with her puppies. As I stood in position ready to take pictures of her and her puppy, I dared not hold my camera up in an abrupt manner fearing that the mother would just come charging at me, thinking I was trying to harm its puppies. I slowly raised my camera, and thanks to the 10X optical zoom, I took a close up shot from a distance.
Trust me, you don’t wanna mess with a dog especially when it is protecting it’s young. It got me thinking, even animals have motherly instinct. Isn’t god’s creation just wonderful? Well, with the exception that animal instincts aren’t as good as human’s.
Lunch came after that and I took a quick one then headed back to office once again. By then, no one was to be seen in the office anymore, except me but I am pretty used to that already so it was alright. Then something struck me and got me thinking, since I have been working day and night for the past week, why not take some time off and go for a movie or something, right?
The picture right above is where the dog and it’s puppies are hiding, right under the shady leaves. Anyway later in the evening, I headed down to The Curve and I have to say, The Curve is pretty jam packed with people nowadays. It’s gaining popularity by the days. People come here mainly for the food and atmosphere most of the time though. Of course, there is always the flea market every Saturday and Sunday (which is expanding in “network”).
I have to say the management of The Curve is pretty creative though, when it comes to decorating for occasions and seasons. They used a blue theme for Christmas and now the red theme for Chinese New Year. Speaking of which, Chinese New Year is around the corner but I haven’t exactly started feeling the mood yet, probably due to excessive work. ![]()
It was pretty crowded since it was a Saturday evening and the flea market was everywhere. This was also the very place Kenny bought his RM500 paintings that his mother denounced as a waste of money. Besides, HSBC was promoting their credit cards and so had set up stages as well as functions for its loyal credit card holders, making the night even more happening.
HSBC also hired lion dancers to dance all the way from Ikano, The Curve as well as Cineleisure. The 3 groups of lions eventually met up somewhere in front of Cineleisure’s main entrance. If you noticed the smiling “I don’t know what you call that”, I thought the mask was kinda cute and adorable.
Speaking of which, HSBC talked me into getting another credit card. As if I haven’t enough credit cards already, I took another one. Well, I was just attracted by the discount offers the card has to offer, so I took it. After all, there are no obligations to use it for the first 2 years and I can cancel off the card after 2 years, so I thought, what the heck.
By then, it was almost 8 pm and I was starting to get a little hungry. Quite frankly, I have ran out of places to eat. Mamak doesn’t taste nice to me anymore. I have been taking mamak food ever since the day I set foot on KL. I decided on the yummy, quick KFC since it has been ages since I last took one of those.
I made it a fast one as well and headed for Borders Bookshop at The Curve to read some magazines. The interesting thing is that you can actually grab some magazines and just sit down and read them. You end up not buying them but that’s a good thing, innit? Ya la, I know la, I am a cheapskate and you people ain’t.
After all that, it was only then that I headed over to Cineleisure for my movie. My initial plan was to watch Stranger Than Fiction but because the seating wasn’t good, I finally decided on Blood and Chocolate. It isn’t exactly the most exciting movie to date but still, it’s watchable.
Cineleisure is starting to grow in terms of operation. I have seen it grown from the start where it was just opened for business and the only thing around back then was Cathay Cineplex. Of course, other outlets started moving in slowly. At the time, things didn’t seem promising but looking at how it’s operating now, I am pretty confident it’s gonna do fine. Bravo to the first few who decided on opening an outlet there. That was a good business decision and it got them good spots in the building.
Now that I remembered one thing, I was trying to take a shot of Cathay Cineplex and a guy came to me and said no photography was allowed without prior consent from the management. I was just thinking, why is it so wrong to take a photo of the cineplex lobby? Was it because you fear me plotting a bomb inplant on the place? Or was it because you feared me talking bad about the place, online or otherwise?
It’s just stupid OK! This “NO PHOTOGRAPHY WITHIN THIS ZONE” thing is just bull crap. I can’t see the logic behind it all. So are you saying, I cannot capture happy moments of me and my loved one at that particular place just for memories? If it’s people’s private home, I can understand why not to take pictures, but hey, no pictures in areas I consider as open (albeit it being a private area) is just absurd. Hey, you opened your office to the public, it’s a cineplex OK!
Enough of that already. What really made my day was this. There is this place near the place I work which teaches dancing. They call it a ballet academy though. Everything is fine but…
AKADEMI BALET NUTCRACKER is just hillarious. What nuts did they think of cracking? WAHAHAHAHAHAHA… You guys better be careful out there if you have any friends learning ballet. Apparently, they can crack nuts, if the skills this academy is teaching is really true, that is. WAHAHAHAHA… Anyway, that’s the end of my boring Saturday so cheers people.

Jia You ! Add oil
^_^
you’re good
and ur post reminds me of Kenny’s posting style now
I think pictures width not bigger than 300 pixels with some spacing looks tidier.
I think you blog quite well about your day
you will improve dun worry ^_^
I am no where near to Kenny in terms of blogging standard. Pictures are fine. I have resized it to fit just nice. the spacing cannot be helped. Wordpress spaces it that small. I mean I can add an additional spacing but still, wordpress will screw it up when I edit the post the next time round.. hehe..

Yea, it’s a long post in a way, yea I know you’re bored. What has nutcracker gotta do with ballet? Don’t ask me, no idea man. Err, Nutcracking type of gracious ballet, probably?
Are you sure human instinct is better than animal instinct? Hmmmm…….
