Say TAK NAK to Toll Hike
Jan 7th, 2007 by Alvin Chong
I was around Sunway Pyramid this evening about 5pm. Well, being the outdated person that I am for not being able to allocate time for newspaper reading on a daily basis, I didn’t know there was a peaceful protest against toll hike there.
Foolishly, my colleague and I drove right into the trap. For some one like me, originating from a small city like Kuching, I have never seen a protest in real life.

There were dozens of police cars around but I managed to take a snap of only one of them.

I didn’t think it was so serious until I came across this sight…

Holy mother of god, there were riot police, 3-4 layers of them just in case the crowd decided to go crazy. That’s when I realised the implication of the crowd.
My opinion on this is that the toll hike is extremely uncalled for. Yes, there might have been an agreement with the government but heck it’s absurd. Amazingly stupid. In cases, the toll rate hiked as much as 60%.
If someone told me there was a need for a hike as the current toll rate wasn’t substantial to support the company as well as the road maintenance… read this… CRAP! Prove it to the public. Show us figures. Convince us because I sure as hell am not convinced. Enough said.
Now that you have read this, remember, you got to know about this first on Alvin’s World. ![]()
