Merry Christmas 2006
Dec 25th, 2006 by Alvin Chong

The tradition of firecrackers and fireworks were originally practised by the ancient Chinese during the Chinese New Year festival in order to ward off evil spirits. It seems to me that this tradition has evolved overtime into a practise common to all Malaysians during all festivals. As of writing right now, fellow Kuchingites are lighting up fireworks and firecrackers to ward off “evil spirits”. ![]()
I don’t mean this in a bad way. It’s a good thing and I like it for the fact that fireworks indeed brighten up any festivals and functions. I am glad people are practising it but of course, please be careful when lighting up fireworks. It’s a fun thing to do if done responsibly. Do not play with home made fireworks for any reason. Those are dangerous and might just go off at very unpredictable moments due to bad manufacturing process. You might end up in the hospital instead of enjoying the festivals. So take care people.
All that being said, I’d like to wish all my fellow readers a very HAPPY AND MERRY CHRISTMAS 2006!!!
